EcoXplorer Romania 2024

Title: Green Skills
Theme: Ecology and environment,
When: 14-25 October 2024
Where: Vatra (a mountain resort in the Romanian Carpathians, in the Ruthenian Mountains).
Age of the participants is 18-30 years old.
In October 14-25, youth club ProBono held a 12-days youth exchange in Vatra Dornei – a picturesque town in northern Romania. The main goal of the even was to bring to the light the ecological problems faced by participants’ countries – Poland, Romania, Italy, Estonia and Bulgaria. The event brought together 39 great young people, and everyone had some great ideas that made the event very productive and helpful for participants’ self-development. Each country had a dedicated evening to share their unique culture – from national dances to special food and games – and each team made their evening absolutely unforgettable. The “official” program was balanced, interesting and very close to real modern problems faced by everyone every day. Different hot topics were discussed, including greenwashing, overconsumption, green energy and AI. During all the time host team maintained a friendly atmosphere for all participants which made the event even better. And the most important – they had a cat!
Overall impression is very positive, and we hope that these young people are now charged to fight for more eco-friendly world, because no one will do it but us. Thank you ProBono!
We also collected some feedback from the participants.
During our 10-day stay in Vatra Dornei, Romania, we had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the local culture and learn about various environmental issues. We were both impressed by the natural beauty of the region, with its breathtaking mountains and lush forests. The project itself was highly engaging, providing us with valuable insights into sustainable practices and eco-friendly solutions. We had the chance to meet inspiring people who shared their knowledge and passion for protecting the environment. Overall, our experience in Vatra Dornei was not only educational but also deeply enriching, and we left with a greater appreciation for both nature and the importance of ecological conservation.
